AnimEigo DVD Production Standards
The following document defines how future AnimEigo DVDs will be configured and formatted. If a DVD release does not conform to this standard, the deviations will be published well in advance of the release of the product.

AnimEigo DVDs will be set with applicable Region Codes (typically Region 1), and have Parental Controls enabled and set to the proper level.

Upon loading, the DVD will play in the following order:
  • Legal Fine Print:

    • Copyright and other information required by law and our licensors.
    • Skippable unless licensor requests otherwise.

  • Logo Screens:

    • AnimEigo Logo
    • Licensor Logos
    • Skippable unless licensor requests otherwise.

  • Transition Video:

    • If applicable/available - a short clip playing through to the Main Menu, usually 5 to 15 seconds in length. This video will be skippable whenever possible (authoring system limitations in some cases may not make it practical).

  • Menus:

    • Main Menus will loop until user specifies an action; they will not autoplay content. Default Settings:

      • Sub Only Titles - Default settings for these titles will be Japanese Audio with Full Subtitles
      • English Dubbed Titles - Default settings for these shows will be English Audio with Limited Subs (Sign Translations and Information)

  • Content:

    • From our existing catalog - Titles will play and have the same content from original (LD/VHS). If there is to be any deviation from this, advance notice (with as much explanation as possible) will be prominently given.

    • For all future titles - These titles will be presented in their original form, as closely resembling the original Japanese presentation as possible. Once again, any deviation from the original structure/content will be fully addressed as far ahead of release as possible.

    • Early-stage check discs of our titles will be provided to major reviewers whenever possible.

  • Packaging:

    • Box Sets:

      • Box sets will have at least two sides (Right and Back) dedicated to 'eye-candy' for display purposes. All copyright/Credit information will be placed on the bottom section of the box.

    • Single DVDs:

      • Designs will be based on existing VHS packaging to create a continuity within the artwork. For new titles, initial packaging designs will be posted on our website prior to release.

  • Limited Edition Projects:

    • Limited to the project's initial run. The number run is based upon pre-orders, anticipated damages, and a few extra units. Once they run out they will no longer be available in that form.

    • If a limited edition project is to be released to the general market, even if it is to be presented in a different format from the limited edition release, we will give notice as far in advance as possible, with the basic details of such release plans.
